Statement on Mapping

I created these pieces to measure connection and dislocation of physical and mental states through the obsessive action of repeated mark-making.

When in a state of panic, I try to regulate my breathing. In Weathering, I brought myself back to moments of unrest, remembering how I attempted to calm my body by concentrating on textures through touch and sight. The attempts did not always prove successful, but it is in this analysis that I have been able to navigate some sort of control over a past situation by mapping a remembrance of texture and surrounding.
